Why is my price change different to the national average percentage?

You’ve likely seen media reports discussing the national average percentage change for private health insurance premiums. The industry’s average percentage increase is calculated using the figures from all health insurers across all policies in every state and territory. This means that, depending on your product, you might get an individual premium change that is above or below the average change for a health fund or national average.

The industry premium change is 2.74% for 2021, while health.com.au’s average fund change is 0.83%.  These are average figures, so your own individual premium change may be higher or lower than this.
